They are
today's preteens, teens, and youth under age 25. Young people born
between 1985 and the early 2000s are the least "churched"
generation in Canadian history. And our bold national mission is to
reach them with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Optimistic, group-oriented, and saturated with media, today's
young people show extraordinary interest in matters of faith while
filling their spiritual hunger from the entertainment world, the
Internet, and ideas learned from their peers. As they emerge from
childhood, most have never been inside a church. And those that
have are leaving it at an unprecedented rate.
At the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada, we are
reaching thousands of youth for Christ through our Rock the River
and Epicentre
ministries. In the last two years, we have trained and equipped
more than 5,000 young people in British Columbia, Alberta,
Manitoba, and Ontario to share their faith in Jesus Christ with
family members and peers.
Thanks to outreach projects organized by us and our partner
churches, many of these same youth rolled up their sleeves and
served their communities, often having opportunities to tell
curious residents the reason for their volunteerism: "We are
God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which
God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10,
NIV).
These projects partnered with mayors, community groups, and
police departments and, in some cases, completed clean-up
initiatives that city leaders had been unable to remedy for months
or years.

The enemy is doing everything possible to steer our children and
grandchildren away from Jesus. We must reach them in a manner that
is effective for their generation and clearly shows them the way to
eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. But we need your help.
