Pray for Iranian pastor
An Iranian Christian pastor has been sentenced to death for denying Islam and refusing to recant his Christian faith. Youcef Nadarkhani, 34, faces death by hanging after he refused to repent for his faith in Christ and to declare Muhammed a prophet. The father of two was arrested in October 2009 and has spent more than two years awaiting the final verdict of the Gilan provincial court.
Pastor Nadarkhani has been found guilty of apostasy, the rejection of Islam. Although he never practiced Islam as an adult, he was found guilty of rejecting the faith of his family, and therefore sentenced to death. The judgment may be carried out at any time without warning.BGEA President Franklin Graham appeared on the Fox News program On the Record with Greta Van Susteren, Thursday night (February 23, 2012) to discuss Pastor Yousef. "He is guilty of apostasy under Islamic law. Christians like this are being persecuted for their faith all over the world," said Graham.
Please join the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada in praying for Pastor Nadarkhani and his family, and trusting that God will be glorified in even the most difficult of circumstances. Let us also remember in prayer other pastors and laypeople around the world who have chosen to follow Christ in the face of great danger.
Pray for the persecuted Church, that God would strengthen those who are threatened and that He would be glorified in all circumstances.
