Q:

Do you think the day will ever come when we won't need missionaries or evangelists anymore, because their work will be done by things like television and the Internet? I guess I'm kind of "tech crazy," but it looks to me like technology now makes it possible to preach the Gospel everywhere.

A:

We do live in a remarkable age, and you are right up to a point: For the first time in history we have the ability to reach almost every corner of the earth with the Gospel, because of modern technology.

I am reminded of Jesus’ statement that “this gospel of the kingdom (of God) will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14). Our own organization continually seeks new ways to use technology to extend the message of the Gospel. Even in recent months, many millions in India heard the Gospel (translated into their own language) over television through our programs, with many responding to the invitation to receive Christ.

However, technology can never take the place of a committed person who prays for others, and who seeks to share the Gospel with them. Technology is only a tool and behind the tool must be men and women who are called by God and have the vision and ability to reach the world for Christ.

Will you be one of those persons? God may not call you to be a missionary or evangelist (although He may), but are you willing to do whatever He calls you to do? Put Christ first in your life, and then ask Him to help you use the gifts He has given you to reach the world with the message of His love.
