DESCRIPTION:Suicide provides unique challenges to both the professional caregiver and those within the informal support system. This course will help define challenges for those faced with providing crisis intervention with suicidal people and their support systems. It seeks to examine evidence-based concepts and gives practical tools to equip helpers with suicide awareness\, professional referral\, peer support intervention and supporting survivors in the aftermath of a suicide completion. SUMMARY:CISM: GRIN (Montreal)
DESCRIPTION:GRIN is a three-day course combining two ICISF CISM courses: Assisting Individuals in Crisis and Group Crisis Intervention. \nCrisis Intervention is NOT psychotherapy; rather\, it is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention that requires specialized training. As physical first aid is to surgery\, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy. Thus\, crisis intervention is sometimes called “emotional first aid”. The Assisting Individuals in Crisis program is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of\, and a specific protocol for\, individual crisis intervention. This course is designed for anyone who desires to increase their knowledge of individual (one-on-one) crisis intervention techniques in the fields of Business & Industry\, Crisis Intervention\, Disaster Response\, Education\, Emergency Services\, Employee Assistance\, Healthcare\, Homeland Security\, Mental Health\, Military\, Spiritual Care\, and Traumatic Stress. \nThe Group Crisis Intervention course is designed to specifically teach crisis intervention and Emergency Mental Health skills such as demobilization\, defusing\, and CISD (Critical Incident Stress Debriefings).
