Finance Assistant

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada (BGEAC) is seeking a highly organized individual to join our Finance team as a Finance Assistant.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is well known for the powerful evangelism and outreach ministry of our founder, Billy Graham.  His mission is our mission: “Proclaiming the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to all we can by every effective means available to us, and equipping others to do the same.”

As the Finance Assistant, you play a key role in supporting the finance team through the effective execution and smooth administration of accounting processes. This position assists with essential daily, monthly, and annual accounting activities related to accounts payable, bank account analysis and reconciliation, general ledger management, and the processing of a variety of financial information received from support and ministry departments. As an integral member of the Finance Team, this individual is expected to perform in a professional manner and deliver high quality outcomes and will help BGEAC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry.

The successful candidate will fulfill a part-time (20 hours per week), one-year contract position in the Calgary head office.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supports the accounts payable process through various tasks such as expenditure verification, data entry, and the processing or payment of invoices
  • Prepares bank and credit card statement reconciliations, along with related follow-up, to ensure complete and timely reporting
  • Imports donations and posts them to the general ledger
  • Assists in annual budget data entry
  • Assists the finance team in effectively carrying out and administering accounting processes

Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants must be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement and compliance with the BGEAC Statement of Faith
  • Degree or certificate in Accounting or a related field
  • Minimum of 1–2 years in Accounting or a similar role
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Proficient in accounting methods, proper internal control practices, and financial systems
  • Highly detail-oriented, well-organized, efficient, and responsible
  • Familiarity with government requirements and regulations for charities
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of records and information
  • Administrative experience is an asset
