“Sometimes I’m asked to list the most important steps in preparing for an evangelistic mission, and my reply is always the same: prayer…prayer…prayer.”

– Billy Graham

This is our inspiration for launching a nationwide Prayer Walk Challenge. Join other Christians right across Canada who have committed to regular prayer walks with the purpose of preparing hearts to be open to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Imagine if every neighborhood in Canada was being prayed for. We believe our country would be different as a result.

Going for a prayer walk is as simple as it sounds – walk throughout your neighborhood and pray.

Why the challenge?

Franklin Graham said, “Prayer is the most powerful resource we have in this life.” If our neighbors are to come to faith in Jesus Christ, it must start with us praying for them.

Let’s pray and believe that God will change our nation one heart at a time through spiritual transformation.

“Thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.” (2 Corinthians 2:14). As we walk and pray, let’s be the aroma of Christ to our neighborhoods!

What can you do?

Take a walk – with a purpose. Walk through your neighborhood and as you go, ask God to make Himself known to neighbors who live next door, across the street, down the alley, and around the block.

Unable to walk? Consider using Google Earth: https://earth.google.com

  • Pray for your communities, your towns, your cities and for Canada.
  • Pray for our government leaders.
  • Watch our Always Good News Instagram program to learn how a group of young adults started a prayer walk and are impacting their community for Jesus Christ.

How do you start?

  • Commit to a regular time and stick with it. Let’s be persistent in our effort to reach our neighbors with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Walk alone. Not only are you interceding for others, but this will also deepen your personal relationship with God.
  • Walk with a friend or a group. “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil…” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12). There is strength in numbers and this is a great way to gather with other believers while making a difference in your community for the Kingdom.
  • As you walk – notice “the little things” – like bicycles on lawns (pray for the children who ride them); “For Sale” signs (pray for families trying to sell their homes); trampolines (more evidence of kids who need prayer!); gardens (pray for them to grow and bless families); signs of landscaping and home improvement (pray homeowners have success with their projects). Little signs are everywhere, take notice.
  • Unable to walk? Use Google Earth! There may be a variety of reasons why you are unable to walk your streets, but that shouldn’t stop you from praying for your neighborhood. No matter where you are or what time of day, you can pray, online!
  • Pray for people. Offer to pray for people who cross your path and be open to opportunities to share the Gospel.
  • Take note of answers to your prayers – nothing encourages us to pray more than seeing God answer our prayers in the first place! We’d love to hear your stories! Email us at [email protected]
  • Build momentum across Canada by inspiring others to take up the challenge and pray. Share a photo on your social media and use the hashtag #prayerwalkchallenge before or after your walk.
  • Register to help us track progress across Canada and to stay up-to-date with new information about this project or other events and resources from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada.
