We usually go to church every week, but our neighbor seems to be involved in church activities all the time. Does God look down on us because we also enjoy doing other things?
No, God doesn’t look down on you just because you enjoy activities that aren’t directly related to your church (as long as they’re honorable). Remember: Jesus was attending a wedding celebration when He performed His first miracle (see John 2:1-12).
At the same time, I can’t help but wonder what place God actually has in your lives. Do you see Him as someone you think about for an hour or so at church—and then ignore the rest of the week? Is He only one of your many interests and concerns? Or is He at the center of your lives, influencing everything you do?
Only you can answer this, of course—but I pray you’ll face this question honestly, because life’s greatest joy comes from knowing God loves us and doing His will. He loves us so much that Jesus Christ, His only Son, gave His life for our salvation. By a simple prayer of faith commit your lives to Him as your Saviour and Lord. The Bible says, “Everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life” (John 6:40).
Then make Christ the center of your lives every day. When you awaken, commit the day to Him and ask Him to guide you. As you go through the day, turn to Him for wisdom and help. And when the day ends, thank Him for being with you. In addition, ask Him to help you serve Him and learn from His Word through your church.
