Will God forgive even the sins we forget to confess to Him? At the end of each day, I try my best to remember everything I've done wrong and ask God to forgive me, but I'm sure I must miss something.

It’s good to look back at the end of each day and ask God to show us how we failed, and then seek His forgiveness. Sin breaks our fellowship with God, and it’s important to deal with our sins at once. I’ll never forget the advice someone gave me many years ago: “Don’t let your sins pile up; keep short accounts with God.”

But you’re right: We’ll never remember every sin we commit. One reason is because we often sin without realizing it. For example, we may do something that isn’t necessarily wrong in itself but we do it for the wrong reason, hoping to impress others or because it feeds our ego. Or we may say something that hurts another person, and we aren’t even aware of it because we aren’t sensitive to their feelings. The Psalmist wisely said, “But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults” (Psalm 19:12).

God, however, knows all about us — including the sins we don’t even realize we’ve committed. And one of the Bible’s greatest truths is that Jesus Christ died for all our sins — even the ones we don’t remember. The Bible says, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12).

Is your faith and trust in Christ? Don’t trust your own goodness; no matter how good we are, we are never good enough. But when we know Christ, we know we belong to Him forever — and nothing can ever change that.
