Q:

Have you ever met anyone who really wanted to become a Christian but just kept putting it off? That's the way I am but I don't understand why. Why can't I seem to do what I know I need to do, and go ahead and give my life to Jesus? Maybe you can give me a little push.

A:

Yes, over the years I’ve met many people like this—and almost always I am saddened by them, because I know most of them will never give their lives to Christ and become His disciples. They are gambling with their souls, not realizing that in a moment they could be called into eternity—and then it will be too late. Don’t let that happen to you!

Only you can say why you hold back from coming to Christ. Is it fear—a fear that He will change your life? Is it some particular sin that you know you’ll have to give up? Is it pressure from your non-believing friends, or a fear they’ll make fun of you or reject you if you become a Christian? Is it a desire to “have a good time” as long as you can?

Whatever your reason, I pray you’ll see it for what it is: a false and shortsighted reason for turning away from Jesus. You will only be on this earth for a brief time—but you will be in eternity forever. Don’t be like the complacent man who ignored God, and of whom God said, “You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you” (Luke 12:20).

Instead, make your decision for Christ today. The longer you delay, the harder it will be for you hear His voice calling you to Himself. By a simple prayer of faith confess your sins to Him and ask Him to come into your life. You will never be the same.
