I graduated from high school a few weeks ago, and I still don't know what I want to do next. My parents are pushing me to go to college, but I'm afraid I'll just waste their money. What should I do?
I don’t know what path is best for you right now—but the most important recommendation I can give you is to seek God’s will for your future.
You see, God knows all about you, and He also knows what’s best for you. After all, He created you, and He gave you a unique set of abilities and opportunities. Don’t drift through life, aimlessly going from one thing to another and constantly wondering if there is any sense to it all. Instead, seek God’s will and make it your goal to follow Him. His way is always best.
How do you find God’s will? Begin by making sure of your relationship with Him. If you have never done so, turn to Christ and ask Him to come into your life as your personal Saviour and Lord. God’s very first desire for you is that you would come to Christ and become part of His family forever.
Then ask God to guide you as you plan your future. Pray about it, seek the advice of others who know you, investigate your options, evaluate your abilities and interests, and ask God to open the right doors. No, He may not show you the whole road map—but He will guide you as you take the next step. The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6). This is God’s promise to you as you seek His will. God bless you.
