Rapid Response Team (RRT) Assistant Manager

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada (BGEAC) is seeking a dedicated Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) Assistant Manager to join our Canadian Ministry Projects team!

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is well known for the powerful evangelism and outreach ministry of our founder, Billy Graham.  His mission is our mission: “Proclaiming the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to all we can by every effective means available to us, and equipping others to do the same.”

As our Rapid Response Team Assistant Manager, you will play a vital role in coordinating and administering training within the BG-RRT ministry and assisting the BG-RRT Manager in equipping and overseeing chaplains and coordinators. Working closely with the BG-RRT Manager, you will contribute to the assessment of crisis situations and the oversight of volunteer deployment. As an integral member of the Canadian Ministry Projects team, this role will help the BGEAC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in the daily prayer ministry.

The successful candidate will fulfill a full-time permanent position in the Calgary head office. This position includes benefits of life insurance, medical/dental and short-term/long-term disability, RRSP contributions after one year of employment, and 15 vacation days per year to start.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Recruits, selects, and screens volunteer chaplains and serves as the primary point of contact for volunteer inquiries.
  • Coordinates and administers all aspects of BG-RRT ministry training and promotes opportunities with organizational partners.
  • Stays informed of domestic and global disaster and crisis events, engaging in cross-organizational dialogue as necessary to discuss and determine potential RRT involvement.
  • Assists the RRT Manager in coordinating the deployment of chaplain coordinators and volunteer chaplains to fulfill response requirements.
  • Provides leadership in the field to chaplains and coordinators as directed, assisting with set-up, preparation, and tear down.
  • Supports the BG-RRT Manager in the oversight and implementation of the BG-RRT ministry strategic direction.
  • Partners with the BG-RRT Manager to connect and coordinate with local emergency management personnel, first responders, and other disaster relief organizations.
  • Manages BG-RRT databases and filing systems to ensure all volunteer, deployment, and financial information is recorded accurately.
  • Monitors program performance by generating periodic reports on key metrics to support operational decision-making.
  • Maintains and orders required inventory of materials, books, and uniforms while effectively stewarding ministry resources.
  • Provides administrative assistance and direction to chaplain coordinators before, during, and after deployment.
  • Coordinates events for volunteer and law enforcement appreciation.
  • Facilitates bi-weekly prayer calls with volunteer chaplains

Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants should be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Bily Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada’s Statement of Faith.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources, Emergency Management, Non-Profit Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in an administrative role, with a thorough understanding of database management and resource stewardship.
  • Crisis-related training; BG-RRT chaplaincy training considered an asset.
  • Experience delivering training or public presentations, with an understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Experience working in relief, disaster response, or crisis-related environments preferred.
  • Proven experience in volunteer recruitment, screening, and retention within a large-scale or specialized volunteer base.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, problem-solving, and self-management skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build professional relationships with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Passion for continuous learning, personal development, and supporting the growth of others.
  • Professional and positive demeanor while working and traveling in challenging or high-stress conditions.
  • Valid passport and the freedom/ability to travel domestically and internationally, when required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
