Senior Financial Accountant

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada (BGEAC) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is well known for the powerful evangelism and outreach ministry of our founder, Billy Graham.  His mission is our mission: “Proclaiming the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to all we can by every effective means available to us, and equipping others to do the same.”

As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a vital role in managing key accounting activities, ensuring financial accuracy, and supporting the overall financial health of BGEAC. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a commitment to upholding the values and mission of our organization. As an integral member of the Finance Team, this individual is expected to perform in a professional manner and deliver high quality outcomes and will help BGEAC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry.

The successful candidate will fulfill a full-time permanent position in the Calgary head office. This position includes benefits of life insurance, medical/dental and short-term/long-term disability, free parking, RRSP contributions (after 1 year of employment) and 15 days of vacation per year.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing key daily, monthly, and annual accounting activities related to accounts payable, analysis/reconciliation of bank accounts, and general ledger management.
  • Processing, administering, and maintaining payroll activities and company benefits for all BGEAC staff.
  • Preparing monthly financial statements and analysis for review by the Director of Finance.
  • Assisting with the annual budget preparation process.
  • Performing month-end and year-end close processes, including support during the annual audit.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Finance in monitoring budgets to actuals.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Finance, developing the necessary competencies and understanding to contribute to corporate filings (T3010 and governance).

Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants should be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the BGEAC’s Statement of Faith
  • Degree in Finance or Accounting or actively pursuing an accounting designation
  • Minimum of 5 years as a Financial Accountant or similar role
  • Experience with budgeting and charitable reporting is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Proficient in accounting methods, proper internal control practices and financial systems
  • Familiarity with government requirements and regulations for charities
