Sean’s Story

Sean* was dying. A terminal diagnosis gave him months to live, yet even as his body weakened, it wasn’t the idea of dying that haunted Sean—it was how alone he felt. With no family or relatives and no personal relationship with God, Sean felt utterly alone and unseen in the world.

As Sean’s heart cried out, God listened, and He answered.

While searching online for answers, Sean found old videos of Billy Graham’s evangelistic Crusades. The clear message of God’s unwavering love, forgiveness, and presence struck his hurting heart. Sean desperately wanted to know Jesus. He visited PeaceWithGod.net, seeking a meaningful conversation about his eternity, and connected with one of our online volunteer coaches.

About Search for Jesus

In 2011, Search for Jesus was launched as a ministry website where hurting people searching online for answers could not only find the truth of the Gospel but also interact with trained volunteers to ask questions or find discipleship. Since its launch, it has expanded to seven languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic, American Sign Language, and Russian. Today, over 1,800 volunteers from 52 countries are helping to share the Gospel.

Embracing New Life in Christ

“I just started praying to Jesus … [I’m] not sure if I’m doing it right or not,” Sean expressed, adding that he had been baptized as a child. “I was told baptism guarantees my salvation.”

Our online coach, Wes,* gently corrected Sean and explained that nothing guarantees salvation except for receiving Jesus, who is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6, NKJV). When Wes offered to guide Sean through a prayer of salvation, he readily agreed.

“I am a sinner … please forgive me,” Sean wrote as they went through the prayer. With Wes’ encouragement, Sean accepted Jesus as his Savior. “In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!” Sean wrote jubilantly. Where Sean had previously began the conversation in despair and loss, he finished with a sense of joy and peace.

“You have given me great hope. May God bless you and your ministry to me,” wrote Sean.
