Canadian Chaplains Deploy to Washington After Severe Flooding

More than 100,000 residents in Washington have been forced to evacuate their homes following torrential rainfall, which caused rivers to surge to record levels. Flooding washed out homes, bridges, and critical infrastructure.

In the aftermath of such devastation, the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is deploying crisis-trained chaplains to Whatcom County. Chaplains from Canada have been asked to help and will provide additional support in ministering to families displaced during the Christmas season.

“Our hearts go out to the communities in western Washington affected by this historic flooding, especially as many families approach Christmas without the comfort of home,” said Josh Holland, vice president of BG-RRT Global. “During a time that is usually marked by joy and celebration, many are instead facing loss and uncertainty.

“Our chaplains will stand alongside them, offering prayer and pointing them to Jesus Christ who brings hope, comfort, and restoration in times of trouble.”

Chaplains have been present since Tuesday, Dec. 16, offering emotional and spiritual care to residents navigating this disaster.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada continues to monitor flooding in parts of British Columbia’s Fraser Valley. Our chaplains stand ready to deploy and provide support as needed.

Please pray for all those who have lost their homes to find hope and comfort in Christ. Also ask God to strengthen first responders and chaplains as they care for the community’s needs.
