
Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains are deploying to minister to the grieving community of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, in the wake of one of Canada’s worst mass shootings.
Nine people were killed, and at least 25 more were injured at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and a nearby residence on Tuesday, Feb. 10. The suspected shooter was also found dead.
“Our hearts are broken by this unspeakable tragedy,” said Tristan Klassen, manager of BG-RRT in Canada. “We want the families of those killed and injured and the community to know they are not alone. Our crisis-trained chaplains are going to offer comfort and prayer for all who have been impacted by this horrific event.”
Tumbler Ridge is a small community of 2,400 in northern British Columbia. Chaplains were invited by local church leaders and will serve in close partnership with them to provide emotional and spiritual care for residents.
