Touch One Life with the Good News of Jesus Christ

Thank you for your heart for sharing the Gospel!

At the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada (BGEAC), our goal is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to all we can, and equip Christians like you to do the same. These resources will equip you to share hope with a relative, friend, or special person in your life who needs to know Jesus.

Jesus promised His disciples that God the Father would send the Holy Spirit to teach and empower them to be a witness for Him. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

Likewise, the Holy Spirit is with you today, and He will do the same for you.

We pray that these resources will help you touch one life—and more—with the Good News of Jesus Christ this year.

THE JOURNEY TO TOUCHING A LIFE CAN BE BROKEN DOWN INTO THREE MAIN PARTS:

1. KNOW YOUR OWN STORY

Before you share with others, you need to understand your own spiritual journey, and be able to explain how God has changed your life. You don’t have to be a Bible expert or theologian. Just write down some main points about what faith in Jesus means to you. What was your life like before you knew Him? How is your life better now?

2. SHARE WITH SOMEONE

Now that you’ve written and understood your own faith story, think and pray about which person (or people) in your life you would like to share it with.

  • Pray for that person (or persons)
The key to helping people find Jesus is prayer. God answers prayer. He wants everyone to know Him and to receive His Son in faith and repentance.
  • Bring them
Invite the person you’re praying for to church or a Christian event. Always show him or her God’s love. Let them see that you care. Listen to their problems. Go places with them, and do life together. As Billy Graham said, “It is the Holy Spirit’s job to convict, God’s job to judge, and my job to love.”
  • Spend time with them
Stay close to him or her. Look for natural opportunities to turn conversations to spiritual matters.

If they come to faith in Christ, then help them grow. If they don’t respond to the Gospel, continue to pray for them and to be a friend. As he or she sees you faithfully following Jesus each day, your life itself will give power to your words, and power to the Gospel.

…But what should I say?

The BGEAC website offers great articles, web links, and videos which will give you the words and confidence to enter into faith discussions with someone close to you. Browse the links below, and take away the words and messages you feel most comfortable using. You can mix in some of your own story points to show how you’ve personally experienced the life-changing power of the Gospel.

3. LEARN AND GROW

At any stage in the journey, those seeking God need spiritual nourishment to build and strengthen their faith. New believers especially need reliable, Bible-based guidance to succeed on the journey. Offer these web links to the person to whom you are ministering, and use them yourself:

  • Grow Your Faith: Several resources to encourage any believer on their spiritual journey.
  • Answers: Read Billy Graham’s thoughtful responses to a wide assortment of faith-related questions.
  • Daily Devotions: Enhance each day with verses from the Bible, reflections, and prayer.
  • Decision Minute: Biblical truths delivered in one-minute segments. Be challenged, encouraged, or both.

May the Lord bless you as you share your faith story and God’s love with the unsaved people in your life.
