If I lived within the sound

Of the sea’s relentless yearning,

My soul would rise and fly to seek

What the soul longs for—unable to speak;

Aware, as I go, of Him everywhere:

In my heart, in the clouds … In the cold wet air …

And my soul would worship in joyful prayer,

Receding as the waves recede,

Returning with the waves’ returning,

Reaching up, as for Him, feeling

Then with the waves kneeling …

kneeling …

kneeling …
