Believers Gather in Ottawa for National Day of Prayer

The second annual National Day of Prayer concluded on July 11, with believers of all generations, denominations, and cultural backgrounds gathered.

For three days, believers and leaders gathered to worship, seek God, pray for Canada, and lift up its leaders before the Lord. In 2025, the inaugural National Day of Prayer brought together over 300 ministry and church leaders, alongside thousands of believers from across Canada. That day, a declaration by those in attendance was formally signed to establish an annual prayer initiative that reflects the spirit of 2 Chronicles 7:14.

This year, the gathering was scaled from a single day to a three-day event. On July 10, church leaders and members of Parliament gathered once more to seek God together and pray for Canada.

On July 11, outreach teams went throughout the city to share the love and hope of Jesus Christ. Over 100 people heard the Gospel, and we praise God that 17 people came to faith.

“God uses his church. He uses every one of us to bring His Gospel,” said Adam, who was part of the outreach.

Later in the day, believers gathered at Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario, for ‘March for Jesus,’ which brought together Canadians of all generations and denominations. These believers walked through the streets of Ottawa from Parliament to Gatineau, Quebec, singing, dancing, and praising the Name of Jesus. The march concluded in Jacques-Cartier Park for a massive worship assembly, and public prayer led by leaders from across Canada, baptisms, and a proclamation of God’s Word.

“We pray that the name of Jesus would be lifted high. Lord, we pray that your truth, your justice, and your righteousness would be established. And so, Lord, this day we want to glorify your name,” prayed Fred Weiss, executive director of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association during the gathering.

The hope beyond the National Day of Prayer is it will become an annual gathering and a lasting legacy passed down to future generations.

After the Prayer March, BG-RRT chaplains took time to pray with other believers and event onlookers.

Will you join us in fervently praying for our nation and its leadership? Pray that God will intervene in our country and offer the hope only found in the Lord Jesus Christ.

“I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.”
