Chaplains Reaching out to P.E.I. Hurricane Victims

Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada’s Rapid Response Team (RRT) chaplains prayed with people of all ages in Prince Edward Island in 2019, as shaken residents recovered from the damage Hurricane Dorian caused.

Four crisis-trained Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains are travelling to Prince Edward Island to offer emotional and spiritual support to residents and first responders impacted by Hurricane Fiona.

“We are praying for the people of P.E.I. and our chaplains are preparing to provide Christ’s compassion, care, and love to everyone affected by this catastrophe,” said Merle Doherty, manager of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada’s chaplain ministry.

Thousands of trees were downed in P.E.I. and hundreds of homes were damaged or flooded. Many thousands of residents are still waiting for power to return.

The volunteer chaplains will be working alongside volunteers from Samaritan’s Purse as they clean up properties and prepare damaged homes for repair.

This is the second Rapid Response Team deployment in Prince Edward Island. In 2019, chaplains ministered in the Summerside region after Hurricane Dorian caused significant damage.

The chaplains will stay in P.E.I. for as long as needed.
